I’m a freelance writer, speaker and garden coach, born and raised in Oklahoma. My husband, children and I all live with our three dogs, cat and twenty chickens on 7.5 acres between the Great American Prairie and the beginnings of the deciduous forest. I garden on approximately an acre of our land and grow vegetables, roses, daylilies and other heat-loving plants which don’t mind our red soil.
I’m gluten and casein intolerant meaning I can eat no wheat or dairy, and I often review books on gluten intolerance.
I’m a frequent contributor of words and photographs to Oklahoma Gardener magazine. I’ve also written for Organic Gardening magazine, Fine Gardening, flower magazine, The Edmond Sun, The Oklahoman, Oklahoma Horticultural Society’s Horticulture Horizons, and The Daylily Journal. I’m also Catholic, and I’ve been published in The Sooner Catholic, our state Catholic newspaper. Recently I wrote an article on blogging for the Garden Writers Association in the Quill & Trowel.
I write online for:
Lowe’s Corporation under their Lowe’s Creative Ideas Team Blog in the south central region
I have a bachelor’s degree in Journalism–Professional Writing from the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in Botany. I’m a member of the Garden Writers Association, the Oklahoma Horticultural Society, and the Central Oklahoma Hemerocallis Society, along with Great Garden Speakers. My website is deenash.com.
