Garden Blogging
My blog, Red Dirt Ramblings won the Garden Writers Association’s Gold Award for Best Electronic Writing in 2014. Better Homes and Gardens named RDR one of its Top Ten Gardening Blogs in 2014, and Southern Living magazine named me one of its 30 Bloggers to Follow in 2015 and 2016.
I also write custom blog posts for garden-industry companies on a work-for-hire basis, with and without bylines. See samples of my writing from RDR and from other blogging projects, below.

Garden Articles for Print and Online Publications
I love writing articles for regional and national garden publications and am happy writing for online and print magazines. If you’re looking for garden photography to license, I have a deep photo library, as well, with photos of beekeeping, Monarch butterflies, and pollinator gardening, perennial gardening, and garden travel.

Not only do indoor plants green the house, they also clean the air.
Most houseplants are leafy tropicals that grow well indoors. They can handle low light conditions and are great for everyone, even if you don’t have a green thumb.
Clean the air with indoor plants
An Oklahoma winter can lie heavy on our hearts. Days are shorter. The blowing wind and inhospitable weather never seem to end. People spend too much time indoors. What can help bring us out of a winter funk? Houseplants.

To attract these garden workers and their prey, years ago, I established a diverse landscape full of plants that work as hard as the pollinators themselves. Echinacea purpurea, purple coneflower, remains a perennial favorite.
I’ll be the first to say I don’t think coneflowers are super easy to grow, even the regular purple ones. In fact, they can be a bit finicky, and some of the newer uniquely colored varieties are even more so.

It’s the beginning of gardening season, and what’s a new year without new plants?
It may be a little past time to order seeds, but never fear, there are still plenty left at most companies for the growing season.
Because all gardens and gardeners are different, I’ll showcase vegetables and ornamental plants—and some that do double duty…

Winter is the season for giving, and no one needs a pick-me-up this time of year more than gardeners. Trust me, they are all itching to get their hands back into the soil.
OKLAHOMA OUTSIDE | December 2018 | Dee Nash
Since the Oklahoma wind is probably blowing outside, let’s start with armchair gardening. While December seed catalogs will beckon, there is nothing quite like sitting by the fire and reading a good book. Three of my favorites this year are “The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder: The Frontier Landscapes that Inspired the Little House Books” by Marta McDowell, “Home-grown and Handpicked: A Year in a Gardening Life” and “Potted and Pruned: Living a Gardening Life,” both by Carol J.
