Lots of questions about this little perennial from Lots of questions about this little perennial from Instagram friends.

It’s Geum ‘Tequila Sunrise.’ I bought it a free years ago @loweshomeimprovement. I’ve seen it there a couple of different springs. It is part of a cocktail series.

It wasn’t a trial plant, but I’m glad I saw it on the sale table all those years ago.

When the weather is nice, pollinators visit it regularly.

For more of what is blooming in my garden today, hop on over to my garden blog. It is Garden Bloggers’ Bloom day!

My favorite photo of the week is this one of the n My favorite photo of the week is this one of the native oaks blooming in my lower pasture. I have post oaks and blackjacks. This is probably a post oak. They frame my every view.

When I see them blooming like this, I know that the spring honey flow is on, and my honey bees are very happy. In fact just above my head higher up in the tree there were hundreds of bees buzzing.

It’s also a good signal that we probably won’t have any more freezes. The native trees know best. For more info, hit up my latest blog post on Red Dirt Ramblings!

New dining room rug. Now, to get the chairs recovered! What color do you think I should recover them in? There’s a lovely khaki, a terracotta and the central blue in the rug. My walls in the dining room are yellow with a haint blue ceiling.

Because we live in a log home, we already have a lot of brown.

I just had to share this picture of the back garde I just had to share this picture of the back garden from this morning. I love the way the sky is lit as the sun came up. The clouds were really beautiful. I didn’t enhance this photo at all, and I took it with my iPhone 11, but I did straighten it. I tend to take crooked photos. 😂

The snow will take a while to melt, but next week we are supposed to have highs in the 50s. I’ll be doing garden coaching next week which I always enjoy. My garden coaching clients always inspire me.

This year I am in need of inspiration.

Because of the ice storm in October, there will be a lot of changes in my garden this spring.

I will be removing four or five Japanese maples that were crushed in the storm. Also, the shady part of the garden which would be off to the left won’t be so shady anymore. We had to remove a lot of limbs from the trees. My southern magnolia lost a lot of limbs in the December snow storm because the snow was heavy and wet. It will all be very interesting.

I’m going to try to use some native shrubs to replace the Japanese maples. These will feed the birds and other pollinators. Before I plant anything though, I’ll be looking at how the sun comes through the trees. It will make all the difference.

Here’s my Valentine. Bill and I have been marrie Here’s my Valentine. Bill and I have been married 32 years. He always works so hard for our family. I did a little video of him clearing the driveway on my story. I also stood outside and watched him because I love how he works a tractor or a motor grader. Back when our neighborhood roads were gravel, he used to grade them, and I loved how he built up the middle of the road so it drained properly. He still impresses me.

Bill is the one who helped me build our gardens.

Remember my bird photos? He makes sure all the birds have food every night. In fact, he waits until dark so that he doesn’t interrupt them. We jokingly refer to the four bird feeders as Bill’s Bird Cafe. He also fills the fountain on the deck each night so they have water to drink.

Bill is the best. I love him so.

When I took this photo this morning, I was actuall When I took this photo this morning, I was actually writing about how gardening will break your heart. The link to the blog post is in my profile.

I saw this tiny Iris reticulata, and I thought sometimes, gardening victories are small, and you have to focus upon the little things in order to remember spring will come again.

Let me explain. Oklahoma is forecast for a monster snowstorm starting tonight and continuing through Monday. According to the meteorologists, this is our sixth major winter storm since October. Remember October’s ice storm? I wish I could forget it.

Anyway, I’ll share more snow pictures on Monday, but for now, I’m just focusing on this tiny iris I forced indoors. It’s the color of the spring sky, and that’s enough for me.

I have no words for yesterday’s events except th I have no words for yesterday’s events except these.

When I’m overwhelmed and unsure, I always go back to God and the beauty of nature and the comfort of home.

I spent much of yesterday reassuring my elderly mother that she is safe. We are safe. Our kids are safe. Her great grandchild is safe.
It honestly made me angry.

I’m turning off the news after my morning update, and I’m going to read a book.

In the midst of things yesterday, I wrote a blog post. If you want to read it, click on the link in my profile. It’s about seeds I’m growing in the garden this year and where I bought them. Of course, seeds are also metaphors. What seeds will you be planting this year?

Me? I’ll continue sowing seeds of kindness and faith. Remember darkness never overwhelms the light no matter how much it tries.

First snow pictures are of the greenhouse and potager. We keep the fountain heated all winter for the birds.

I think we may be in for one of those really snowy Oklahoma winters. The last one I remember was in 1979 when I was 16. I’d just learned to drive. It snowed every Wednesday, and I drove a red Firebird.

I’m a better snow driver now.
