“Very Practical & Worth the Time Investment!”

I have listened to Dee speak several times and even though I have been gardening for many years and am a master gardener, I always learn many things from her. She is continually updating her knowledge to include what is new and exciting. ~Amber Gill, Enid, OK

I overwintered/oversummered this one. First bloom, I overwintered/oversummered this one. First bloom, and then what it looked like a few days later. I don’t remember the variety. Sorry about that.

I have no words for yesterday’s events except th I have no words for yesterday’s events except these.

When I’m overwhelmed and unsure, I always go back to God and the beauty of nature and the comfort of home.

I spent much of yesterday reassuring my elderly mother that she is safe. We are safe. Our kids are safe. Her great grandchild is safe.
It honestly made me angry.

I’m turning off the news after my morning update, and I’m going to read a book.

In the midst of things yesterday, I wrote a blog post. If you want to read it, click on the link in my profile. It’s about seeds I’m growing in the garden this year and where I bought them. Of course, seeds are also metaphors. What seeds will you be planting this year?

Me? I’ll continue sowing seeds of kindness and faith. Remember darkness never overwhelms the light no matter how much it tries.

We woke up to a winter wonderland of at least five We woke up to a winter wonderland of at least five inches of snow.

First snow pictures are of the greenhouse and potager. We keep the fountain heated all winter for the birds.

I think we may be in for one of those really snowy Oklahoma winters. The last one I remember was in 1979 when I was 16. I’d just learned to drive. It snowed every Wednesday, and I drove a red Firebird.

I’m a better snow driver now.

Easy to grow, my Thanksgiving cacti actually bloom Easy to grow, my Thanksgiving cacti actually bloom at Christmas. I know they're Thanksgiving cacti because their leaves have points. Christmas cacti do not. Also, there's an Easter cactus, but I don't have any. So pretty in the window and on the table. When they aren't blooming they live in my bathroom window. #cacti #cactilove #cactusclub #succulentsofinstagram #houseplants #thanksgivingcactus #gardenblogger #gardenpodcast #instasucculent #gardener #gardenersofinstagram #growsomething #indoorplants #indoorgarden #wintergarden
Last week's snow is just a memory,, but this showy Last week's snow is just a memory,, but this showy, snowy male Cardinal sat poised in the branches of my American wisteria. He's waiting for his turn at the bird feeder right outside our living room window.

Birds need shrubs and vines and understory trees to stop predators from finding them. They also need places of rest. It's not easy being a bird, but being a winter bird in the snow is even harder. #birdsofinstagram #birdstagram #wintertime #winterbird #cardinals #redbird #redbirds
